Google Expands AI Mode in Search to Hindi and 4 More Languages
Google has announced a major expansion of its AI Mode — the AI-powered Search experience — adding support for five new languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. This follows over six months of testing in English, giving users worldwide access to AI-powered search in their native languages.
Global Expansion and Availability
The AI Mode, powered by Google’s custom Gemini 2.5 model with multimodal and reasoning capabilities, lets users ask complex questions and get contextually relevant answers. Initially launched in the U.S. in March 2025, the feature was expanded to the U.K., India, and then to 180 additional markets in English. Now, users can interact with AI Mode in Hindi and other languages.
How AI Mode Works
AI Mode supplements the standard Google Search by offering enriched answers for nuanced queries, such as itinerary planning, local recommendations, and “how-to” questions. Users can engage with AI Mode through text, voice, or images. It is accessible via a dedicated tab on the search results page or a button in the search bar, allowing seamless use in native languages.

By introducing AI Mode in Hindi, Google aims to build a truly global search experience that goes beyond mere translation. According to Hema Budaraju, VP of Product Management at Google Search, the expansion ensures AI search results are locally relevant and useful, empowering users to explore the web more deeply and interactively in their preferred language.
Future Prospects
Google is gradually adding agentic capabilities to AI Mode, enabling tasks like restaurant reservations and local service bookings. While currently available in certain markets for AI Ultra subscribers, these features showcase Google’s vision for a personalized, multilingual, and AI-driven search ecosystem globally.
