Tanishaa Mukerji Opens Up on Heartbreak, Career Struggles, and Life Lessons
Tanishaa Mukerji, daughter of veteran actress Tanuja and sister of Kajol, has often made headlines for her career and personal life. The actress, who debuted with Neal ’n’ Nikki in 2005, recently spoke candidly about love, heartbreak and how she handles life’s lows.
Heartbreak with Uday Chopra vs Armaan Kohli
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Tanishaa revealed that her breakup with Uday Chopra was more painful than her split with Armaan Kohli. “Voh itna heartbreak nahi tha. I was more heartbroken jab mera Uday ke sath breakup hua. Because we were friends, we were very close, and we had known each other for a very long time,” she said.
Staying Positive Amid Pain
Despite emotional setbacks, Tanishaa prefers optimism. “I’m the kind of person who always looks at the bright side of things. Whatever happens, happens for the good. I enjoy the feeling of falling in love and I cherish the experiences it brings,” she shared. She also admitted that she binge-eats chocolates as a quirky way to cope with heartbreak.
Her Mother’s Guiding Presence
A constant pillar of support has been her mother, Tanuja. Tanishaa explained that when work troubles arise she usually turns to her mother for advice. “Usually, it’s just my mum. She never treated us like children — she always spoke to us like adults and gave us the best guidance,” she said.
A Journey of Highs and Lows
After an initial promising start, several of Tanishaa’s film choices did not perform well at the box office. Reality TV, however, brought her renewed attention — she was the first runner-up on Bigg Boss 7 and later appeared on shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi 7 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. She also judged the comedy show Gangs of Haseepur, proving her versatility.
Why She Parted Ways with Uday Chopra
Tanishaa reflected on the real reason for their split, saying they had dated for about two years but realised things weren’t working. “You realise that something is not working. It’s very natural. We realised it was not working, and we are still friends,” she explained. Their relationship began as a friendship on the sets of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and later blossomed into romance while working together.
Looking Ahead
Despite setbacks, Tanishaa continues to embrace life with positivity and resilience. She treats heartbreak and failure as lessons, believing that love — however it ends — remains a cherished experience.
