Own a Piece of Horror History: The Conjuring House Up for Auction This Halloween
The legendary Rhode Island farmhouse that inspired the hit horror film franchise The Conjuring is about to enter the real estate spotlight—and in a twist that seems straight out of a movie, the auction is set for Halloween morning.
Located at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville, Rhode Island, the 18th-century farmhouse spans 8.5 acres and features a 3,000-square-foot home with 14 rooms, including three bedrooms and a library. Its fame comes from the chilling experiences of the Perron family, who lived there in the 1970s. The family reported violent hauntings, strange shadows, sudden drops in temperature, and a constant feeling of being watched. These accounts later inspired James Wan’s 2013 blockbuster The Conjuring, a film that sparked a billion-dollar horror franchise, now with its latest installment The Conjuring: Last Rites released just last week.
A House with a Storied Past
Over the decades, the farmhouse has captivated both horror enthusiasts and paranormal investigators. Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famed paranormal experts central to the film series, investigated the home in the 1970s, further cementing its reputation as one of the most haunted houses in America.
In May 2022, the property was purchased for $1.5 million by Bale Fire LLC, led by Boston developer and self-proclaimed medium Jacqueline Nunez. Nunez transformed the farmhouse into a paranormal tourism destination, offering overnight stays, guided ghost hunts, and special events aimed at horror fans from around the world.
However, running a haunted attraction proved challenging. In 2023, Nunez accused her property manager of theft, claiming she had been warned of the misconduct by a resident spirit. Legal disputes with former employees over pay and working conditions followed. Town officials also revoked her entertainment license, citing safety concerns and documentation irregularities. Despite these setbacks, tours continued, though guest complaints over cancellations and denied refunds mounted. Ultimately, financial strain led to mortgage default and the upcoming foreclosure auction on October 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. local time, handled by JJManning Auctioneers.
Celebrity Interest and Future Prospects
Even amid its turbulent history, the Conjuring House continues to fascinate the paranormal community. Comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee, both already owners of another haunted property in Connecticut linked to Ed and Lorraine Warren, have expressed interest in acquiring the Rhode Island estate.
Rife remarked, “As a fan of the paranormal, film, and the history of the property and the land it sits on, it’d be an honor to help preserve its beauty.” Their potential ownership suggests the house could continue as a tourist destination while honoring its eerie legacy.
Why This Auction Is Unmissable
The upcoming sale is more than just a property transaction—it’s a chance to own a piece of horror history. From its 18th-century architecture to its place in one of the most successful film franchises of all time, the Conjuring House offers both historical value and paranormal intrigue. Fans, collectors, and investors alike are expected to take keen interest in the auction.
Whether the new owner continues the ghost tours, transforms it into a private residence, or preserves it as a piece of cinematic history, the Burrillville farmhouse remains one of America’s most captivating haunted properties. Halloween has never felt more fitting for a property with this kind of storied past.
