Janhvi Kapoor Breaks Silence on Star Kids’ Struggles: “No One Wants to Listen to Us”

The long-running debate over insiders versus outsiders in Bollywood refuses to die down. From talk shows to social media discussions, the question of privilege and opportunity in the film industry often divides both fans and celebrities. Now, actor Janhvi Kapoor has shared her honest perspective on the issue, acknowledging that while star kids face their own challenges, it’s unfair to compare them with outsiders who struggle to even get a chance.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Shocking Take on Star Kids’ Struggles Goes Viral

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Janhvi opened up about how difficult it can be to speak about the struggles of star kids when the public already perceives them as privileged. “Koi interested nahi hai sunne ke liye. Kyunki hum privileged background se hain toh koi thodi naa sunna chahta hai,” she said candidly. (No one is interested in listening. Because we come from a privileged background, nobody really wants to hear us out.)

She went on to explain that while every actor faces pressure and challenges in their journey, the struggles of outsiders are of a completely different kind. “I think hume complain bhi nahi karna chahiye kyunki hum bohut abhari hai jo bhi mila hai uske liye. Agar hum yahan baithke bolenge ki humare liye bhi bohut mushkil hai, jab ki sab ke liye hota hai,” Janhvi said, adding that such complaints could sound “tone-deaf.”

Janhvi, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and the late superstar Sridevi, expressed that she doesn’t support this “insider vs outsider” divide but admits that empathy is key to understanding each side. “Unka jo struggle hota hai voh bohut different hota hai, voh hum nahi samajh paayenge,” she said. (The kind of struggles outsiders face are very different, and we will never truly understand them.)

When Ananya Panday Faced the Same Question

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a star kid’s comment on “struggle” has sparked attention. A few years ago, Ananya Panday was trolled after saying that her father, actor Chunky Panday, never appeared on Koffee with Karan, implying that even star kids have their own battles. Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi’s sharp response—“jahaan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahi inka struggle shuru hota hai” (their struggle begins where our dreams are fulfilled)—instantly went viral and became symbolic of the outsider’s viewpoint.

Ananya Panday

That moment marked a major turning point in how the public perceives privilege in Bollywood. Since then, every time a celebrity from a film family talks about struggle, social media reactions follow swiftly. Janhvi’s recent comments seem to acknowledge this sensitivity, showing a more balanced and thoughtful take.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Current and Upcoming Films

On the professional front, Janhvi Kapoor recently appeared in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, co-starring Varun Dhawan, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film opened to mixed reviews and moderate box office performance, especially when compared to Kantara: Chapter 1.

Janhvi’s next big project is Peddi, a sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana, starring Ram Charan in the lead role. The movie also features Divyendu Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, and Shiva Rajkumar in key roles. Peddi is set for a grand theatrical release on March 27, 2026.

A Balanced Voice Amid the Privilege Debate

While many celebrities choose to stay silent on the topic, Janhvi Kapoor’s honesty has sparked fresh discussions about empathy, fairness, and self-awareness in Bollywood. By acknowledging her privilege while respecting the struggles of outsiders, she may have just taken the conversation one step closer to understanding—rather than judgment.
