The Secret Discipline Priyadarshan Passed to His Daughter Kalyani — It’s Inspiring!”
After the record-breaking success of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, produced by Dulquer Salmaan and grossing over ₹300 crore worldwide, actress Kalyani Priyadarshan is being celebrated as one of the most consistent and hardworking talents in Malayalam cinema.
Amidst the love and admiration pouring in, Kalyani took a moment to reflect on the most valuable life lesson she inherited from her father, the legendary filmmaker Priyadarshan — a lesson that has shaped her entire approach to work and life: an unshakable work ethic.
A Father’s Dedication That Became a Daughter’s Inspiration
Speaking to ETimes, Kalyani shared, “I’ve always said that what I picked up from him is his professionalism. All my life, I’ve just seen him work. Even today, he gives his all — shooting in tough weather, working long hours, and never slowing down despite age or health.”
She recalled moments from her childhood that left a permanent impression. “I’ve seen him with a high fever, drinking scalding tea, shivering, yet holding a mic and saying ‘action’. I’ve seen him running around at 10:30 at night trying to fix things on set. That’s the man I grew up watching.”
The Lesson That Defines Her Career
Those moments, she said, became a part of her. “Anyone who’s worked with me can say a hundred things about me, but one thing I’ll never allow them to say is that I’m lazy. I know I’m hardworking — and that comes from my father.”
Kalyani also reflected on her father’s deep sense of commitment to the art and the people behind it. “He’s always put the producer’s trust and the film’s integrity above everything else. That sense of responsibility has become mine too.”
What’s Next for the Father-Daughter Duo
While Kalyani continues to shine with her performances, Priyadarshan remains as active as ever. Recently, he was seen filming his upcoming project Haiwaan in Mumbai with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. His next release, Bhoot Bangla, features Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi — promising another entertaining classic from the master director.
As for Kalyani, she carries forward her father’s spirit — proving that talent may be inherited, but true greatness is earned through relentless hard work and discipline.
