Dhanashree Verma, choreographer and digital creator, has been making waves with her appearance on the new reality show Rise and Fall. But beyond the glitz, she recently turned heads with a witty yet emotional take on the trolling she faced after her high-profile divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal.

The Reality Show Moment That Went Viral

In a viral promo clip from Rise and Fall, hosted by Ashneer Grover, contestants were divided into pairs and asked to choose between two briefcases – a gold one worth ₹2 lakh and a silver one worth ₹1 lakh. Paired with actor Arjun Bijlani, Dhanashree found herself in a lighthearted yet telling exchange.

“Diamonds and silver don’t suit me. Gold suits me,” Arjun joked. To this, Dhanashree quipped with a sharp sense of irony, “Yeh line toh main bol nahi sakti. Agar maine yeh line bol di toh jo mujhe pyaar milne vala hoga vo bhi nahi milega (I cannot say this line. If I do, I might lose even the love I deserve).”

Her statement was seen as a direct response to months of online trolling, where she was unfairly labelled a “gold digger” after her separation.

The Divorce and the Trolls

Dhanashree married Yuzvendra Chahal in December 2020 after bonding during the COVID-19 lockdown. However, by mid-2022, cracks began to show, and the couple officially filed for divorce in February 2025. Their divorce was granted on March 20, 2025, with reports claiming that Chahal paid ₹4.75 crore as alimony.

Throughout this period, Dhanashree faced relentless cyberbullying. The trolling intensified when Chahal appeared at their final court hearing wearing a T-shirt that read: “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” Many netizens interpreted it as a jibe at his ex-wife.

Later, Chahal defended his choice on a podcast, saying, “I didn’t want to create drama. I just wanted to send a message because something happened from the other side.” To this, Dhanashree responded in another interview with a hint of disbelief: “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai? (He could’ve just messaged me. Why wear the T-shirt?)”

Dhanashree’s Fresh Start

Despite the negativity, Dhanashree is focusing on moving forward. On Farah Khan’s vlog, she revealed that she and Chahal are still on cordial terms and occasionally exchange messages. “Both of us have accepted everything gracefully and moved on. I wish him well,” she said.

She also clarified that she prefers not to dwell on the past: “There is a reason why we say personal life. It has to be private. Just because I am not speaking doesn’t give anyone the power to take advantage of that. It’s done and dusted.”

Looking Ahead

With her strong presence on Rise and Fall, Dhanashree Verma is determined to rebuild her narrative. Instead of being defined by online hate, she is embracing her platform to showcase resilience, wit, and individuality. Her journey is proof that even in the face of trolling and heartbreak, a person can rise stronger, laugh louder, and shine brighter.
