Shriya Saran's New Beginning

A star does not diminish; it merely awaits the proper night to shine once more. Shriya Saran, former queen of the 2000s, is ready to return in the highly anticipated Telugu fantasy drama Mirai. Following her stint in the Tamil movie Retro and a retro-themed dance number Love Detox opposite Suriya, Shriya now features in a central role which may herald a dominant new chapter for her.

Shriya's First Look as Ambika

Before the release of the film, the team released Shriya's dramatic poster, introducing her as Ambika. Clad in a black embroidered saree, Shriya is posing in a serious yet fierce avatar, representing strength and endurance. The poster, which reads, "Behind every superhero's journey lies a mother's strength", focuses on her being the emotional hold of the epic tale. Her fans have been swift to praise her look as one of the most dramatic performances of her life.

The World of Mirai

Directed and filmed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, Mirai is based on Indian mythology and takes place in the tumultuous times of Kali Yug. Teja Sajja's character, a death-defying warrior wielding a magical wand, is our focus as he sets out to learn about himself. His quest lands him in conflict with a ruthless villain, The Black Sword, portrayed by Manchu Manoj, who enters one of the most fearsome negative roles in recent Telugu films.

The trailer and teaser already hint at the grandeur of the film, with visuals like monkeys bowing to Lord Ram sparking intense discussions online. Alongside Shriya and Teja, the film features Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, and Ritika Nayak, adding depth and diversity to the ensemble cast.

Teja Sajja on Mirai’s Scale and Vision

Fresh from the success of Hanu-Man, Teja Sajja is back as a superhero on an even larger canvas. In the Chennai press meet, he referred to Mirai as "an action, adventure, and fantasy entertainer" made with family viewing in mind on the big screen.

The actor divulged that the movie has a stronger message: "Hope for the Future". Filmed over breathtaking landscapes of Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Himalayas, the film has international stunt choreography. Teja learned in Thailand for 20 days to do all the high-energy action sequences himself—without body doubles.

"While Hanu-Man was limited to being in Anjanadri, Mirai goes across borders and touches upon universal themes. It's a movie made for the global stage," Teja revealed.

Rajinikanth's Praise for Mirai

Adding to the buzz around the film, superstar Rajinikanth recently screened the trailer and admired its vision and execution. His admiration has further heightened expectations, making Mirai not merely a regional release but a pan-India event with international appeal. With Karan Johar's Dharma Productions handling the Hindi release, the film is also eyeing fans in Japan and China, where Indian cinema has a strong fan base.
