Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari: Varun Dhawan & Janhvi Kapoor Starrer Clears CBFC With Edits, Faces Clash With Kantara: Chapter 1

The countdown has begun for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the much-anticipated romantic comedy starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film promises a vibrant mix of love, laughter, and family drama — but its journey to release has been as eventful as the film’s storyline.

CBFC Clearance After Key Cuts

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared the movie with a U/A 13+ certificate. But this approval came only after a few notable changes:

  • Muted the word “guard” in one scene.
  • Trimmed nearly 60% of kissing scenes.
  • Inserted an anti-alcohol disclaimer.

After these edits, the film locked a runtime of 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 45 seconds (135.45 minutes).

A Holiday Release With Big Stakes

Set to release on October 2, the movie arrives on a double-holiday weekend of Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra. Advance bookings reflect steady interest, with over 9,200 tickets sold across national chains by Monday. Trade experts predict opening collections between ₹10.50–12.50 crore.

The story follows two ex-lovers in Delhi, who try to reconnect after years apart, leading to a comedy of errors, emotional confusions, and a new romance.

The Big Clash With Kantara: Chapter 1

The film will clash with Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1. Addressing the situation, Varun Dhawan said:

“This date was the production’s decision. It’s Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, so there’s enough space. We are not under the delusion that we’re as big as Kantara. That’s a different kind of film, and we should support each other.”

Director Shashank Khaitan added:

“If we release only one film per week, we’d have just 52 films a year. Good movies will always find their audience.”

Janhvi Kapoor compared it light-heartedly to the Hollywood clash:

“It should be like Barbie and Oppenheimer. Kantara is a massive film, and we’re just here with a family entertainer.”

The Road Ahead

Produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari was initially scheduled for April 2025 but faced delays. With quirky promotions and strong buzz, all eyes are now on its box office fate this festive season.

One thing is certain — October 2 will bring cinematic fireworks as Bollywood fans choose between two very different but equally exciting films.
